Started out from Everett at around 7-ish and saw lots of surface activity all the way out to the Mukilteo Ferry Dock. Turned around the bend and set our gear.
While set-up was going on (i.e. the untangling of the gear I left a little too loose) I cast a few times with a steelhead rod and pink buzz bomb. Got a strike on the second cast and was *this close* to getting it in the boat. No matter, it was sure fun to fight on the lighter rod.
One nice pink to the boat in 8-2, another just into 9, and then we went quiet for a long time. Around the tide we pulled in a spunky cutthroat, if my fish-ID-skills are holding up these days, and released it. Few more strikes, few more to the boat but lost. One final pink on the way back in 9. So three nice fish for the smoker!
And more importantly, we didn't get clobbered by rain. That's almost an extra star!
We caught fish on both the standard humpy set-up and a coho-attempt set-up (purple hoochie, red striped green flasher). It was either those combos or the new 'lucky' pink salmon t-shirt from John's Sporting Goods in Everett. (Or maybe the fish lure earrings.) :)
