Went out to Green Lake after school to go after the recently stocked rainbows. Arrived at the small T-dock located at the south side of the lake around 3:50 PM. The weather was really nasty and the wind was blowing hella hard. Tied on a 1/4 oz. kastmaster and started fishing. Saw quite a few people kayaking and rowing. After 1 hour of unproductive fishing, I hooked into a powerful fish. When I set the hook the first time, I knew it wasn't a small fish because it was burning my drag like crazy. I thought I might have snagged a carp or something because I was fishing very close to the bottom and near a huge area of milfoil. After a minute or so, I managed to horse the fish up to the surface and realized that I've hooked into a really nice brown trout. Because I was using 4 lb. test line, I didn't want to take the risk of breaking my line by pulling the fish up to the dock, so I dragged the fish around the dock and was able to beach the beauty on the bank. The fish appeared to be around 16-18 inches long and was a HOG! After a minute of debating on whether I should keep the trout for the oven or releasing it back to the lake, I finally came up with a conclusion. I carefully placed the beauty back in the water and quickly revived her up by swaying it back and forth. The fish swam back down the lake like a torpedo without any sign of injury. That was the biggest trout I've ever caught in Green Lake, but oh well, at least I know she is still out there waiting for me to hook her again. Tight lines!
