We started off at the grayland beach, digging clams. The ebb tide was supposed to stong on the bar and be over at 9:15. Got our limits of razors and headed out across the bar at 9:30. We headed north, dropped our crab pots, and started pulling divers and herring in about 50ft of water. Big swells and a decent chop on Saturday. About an hour in, fish on! It's a clipped fish but only 22", back she goes. Fished another hour or so and landed 2 shakers(both clipped). Right about high tide it's fish on again, and this one was, clipped, 29" and I'm guessing 12 lb. We fished till the ebb started to flow again and snuck back across the bar.
Sunday we tried the same tactics in about the same area for four hours with nary a bite. We managed to find two keeper crab. Talking with a dude at the lauch, he did well out deeper on flasher/hoochie rigs on downriggers. Ah well, live and learn.
