The family went to unload the boat at Port Orchard boat ramp. This is where the fun began. The tide was going out and far enough that had to put the boat in all the way at the end of the ramp on the left. And was told that there was a hole at the end of the ramp about a foot deep. THANKS SAFETY BOAT! I was under the impression that the repair of the ramp was to add additional concrete at the end of the ramps for the safety boat. I see that hasn't happened, Not surprised.
We headed to Illahe State park area and put out 4 pots north of all the other hundreds of pots out there. Well after as we was putting the pots out there was another boat out there looking like they was checking pots but I believe they was out Poaching pots. Because after about 10-20 min. after placing dropping the pots the first pot was missing (my sons pot). After I drop a pot I mark it on my GPS. I was going to where the first pot was dropped and wasn't there. And the boat around the area wasn't either. So I got on Ch16 and Informed people about the Crab Pot poacher. They was lucky I didn't catch them.
The crab report there was alright with the three remaining pots. There are some good ones out there cause every time we pulled pots (2hrs soak) we was pulling up some good ones but a little short of the measurement. Infact one was about 1/16th short, BUMMER.
After pulling pots a leaving. We saw something that was looking like a big log. We decided to go check it out and it was a dead seal. I contacted the USCG on Ch16. after many times going to Ch22 and a cellphone calls and about an hour hanging out around the seal everything was reported. Infact I called a dead Mamal hot line and waiting for 25min for some one to answer. And talking to the operator to let them know about the seal. She asked me what state I was in. WHAT? anyway she said it was reported, I don't think it was this one. So talking to the Coast Guard on the Cell phone. I told them out the Hot line. We both don't think this one they had. so all in all was A good day!
