Slooow. Not many Chinooks being caught. Problem was no rain. With all this rain I suspect it will turn on and the fishing could get real good. 3 rods in my Seahawk and after releasing dozens and dozens of shakers, 4-5 wild Silvers and 2 wild Chinooks we wound up with 6 small legal Silvers and 3 legal Chinooks, 11-19. Everybody else was the same, rather empty at the cleaning stations.
The bite was much better yesterday morning with the rain. 2 of the 3 legal Chinooks we got were yesterday morning. Our Chinooks were pretty mature with fairly well developed egg skeins, milt sacks and gray bellies. One of them had 2 fresh Pilchards in her gut, and Pilchards are usually just found in the ocean so she was prob just in. I suspect the Chinook run will be strong, they've just been hanging out somewhere in the ocean waiting for fresh water smells.
Im going back over on 8/2.
