We fished out of Garibaldi Saturday. The water surface temperature was 61.5. Fishing started out slow. We started the morning fishing with herring and flasher at 15 pulls and moved deeper as it got later. We had a few bumps and several wild coho to the boat. Then it went dead. After a couple of hours we stared seeing bait and fish between 150 and 200 feet. The ocean was a little choppy but we decided to set up the down rigger and go down and have a look see. We set up with a dodger and glow in the dark Point Defiance spoon dropped down to 150 feet. It wasn't there more than a minute and fish on. Wild coho. Drop down again fish on. Another wild fish. Did this a couple more times all wild. Nice 7-8 pound fish. Moved to another area trying to get out of the wild fish. No good more wild fish. Called it a day and headed back to pick up the crab traps and get over the bar before it started getting out of shape. It seems like there is a healthy wild fish population but we sure couldn't find the hatchery fish. Only one keeper coho and 12 crabs but a great day on the water.
