So this will be a 2 day report since not much to report for either one~ I am in sort of a mini chinook slump and need to get mojo back soon. Not ready to change my username yet but really need to get one soon!

Wednesday July 30th~ so this year we decided to do our annual church derby on a Wednesday since 99% of the guys in the derby are retired and that way we don't have to battle the crowds. Yes I am the 1% that is not retired yet haha! The other guys launched from Pt. Defiance but since I was technically still working, wanted to launch from Redondo and fish an area I had not fished before. I had Bob Huff with me who has fished that are from Pt. Robinson to Beal point quite a bit so wanted to use his experience on my boat to see if we could tie into a nookie!

Got to the launch at 5:15 and only 2 trailers in the parking lot and no one launching so we put in and headed straight over to Beal point. Made it in about 15 minutes and just as we kill the big motor and get ready to start our troll, a guy nets a nice 14lber so things are looking promising. I get the down riggers ready and just as I am bringing up the one to snap on a clip, I bring it up too far and SNAP! the braid breaks off and down goes my ball and all! Darn! Of course, my tackle box with my jigs and banana weights is still in the garage and I had not planned on jigging or mootching today. So I am scratching my head trying to figure out how we are going to do this when I realized I had an extra cliip on board so was going to attempt my first time stacking a down rigger. Bob starts with a green hootchie with herring strip and I go with a Irish cream tail wagger~ we spread them 20 feet apart and put Bob's at 75' on the bottom one and mine would be around 55'. It's a cool area over there and figured we would just troll with tide towards Point Robinson. We were in about 100 feet of water and ended up working the area back and forth for a while. Did not see another fish caught and about 10 boats over there.

About 10am an ominous fog bank rolled in and before we knew it we were socked in! Could not even see land and felt like we were in the Twilight zone. Put out my stern and bow lights and thank goodness I had my Garmin GPS hooked up so at least we could see where we were. Decided to start working our way back so followed the shore line towards Point Robinson and just as we cleared the point it cleared up some; so we just ran over to Redondo to finish up are troll there. Heard from Ron who had land one small 6lber over by the girl scout camp and said it was pretty slow over there too but did hear of a couple of 18 lbers caught.

Not a stellar day but still fun and learned some new techiques and fishing areas~ did get by Friday and took a picture of a couple a guy caught over by Pt. Robinson so put those on here since I had nothing else! haha I will write a seperate report for Saturday since this got to long! lol
