Wind In His Hair
8/29/2014 10:02:00 PMIs your flasher 8 inches and what was you leader length? I'm fishing from a kayak and debating whether to use 11s or 8s.
Cheers!

This report is for Monday thru Thursday. We got out at 06:00 on Monday with sunrise at 6:30. Headed north out of Sekiu and dropped lines in the water at about 200 ft, 30 to 40 ft on the downrigger. We were running a red flasher on one and green on the other, and that didn't change all week. One kept a cookie and cream tail wagger. The other got changed out a few times. It started with a white glow squid with a blue tinsel insert. The squid got the first fish, a hatchery black mouth, back it went. I lost count on released/lost and take downs without hook up from 06:00 to 07:00. We finally got a keeper just under 5 lb. My wife wanted to go in at 07:30 and I went back out and fished till 11:00. I did C&R with some black mouth and wild silvers and got one keeper at just under 5 lb. Most fish came from 350 to 450 ft 40 ft down. I did get some out farther and down to 90 ft on the rigger. The squid got changed to a white coho killer and then to a green tail wagger. We hit it for a few hours in the afternoon and only C&R.
Tuesday we fished from 0:530 all day with a break for lunch, C&R only.
Wednesday we fished from 05:30 to 11:00 C&R only and wind in PM.
Thursday we fished from 06:00 and were back at the dock at 0:830 with 3,4,5 and 12 lb. Coho. I don't know how many C&R. When we hit the first keeper at 30 to 40 ft down in 450 ft I just kept going back thru the area. My track on the GPS looks like a ball of yarn. All keepers came from the white squid.
On Monday we did have a double in 450 ft 40 down on two nice hatchery kings I would guess at 8 lb.
We had fog most days and then it would be clear out at 300 to 600 ft with Sekiu in the fog.
At times this week it was a long time between hits and some time it was a 5 for C&R with Thursday being a 5.
Almost forgot, everything got herring or bloody tuna scent.
