Well, a buddy of mine and I decided to try out my "new-to-me" boat for lingcod on the opener out of washington park in Anacortes. Looked online and read that slack/low tide was at 10am. So we were on the water by 8am. Other people told me it was 11am, then another told me 8am for slack. No idea why the tides have become just as Illusive as the fish......anywhooooo.
Fought fairly swift currents most of the day, but put my buddy on his first ling, even though undersized we had fun. Caught 4 small lings, one rockfish, one sculpin, and the weirdest thing I've ever reeled in, a sea slug. Huh..... Fun day, even jumped the boat over a knarly rip tide on the way back it. It was sketchy. Big white cap swells crashing into each other was interesting in my little 15 footer!
Maybe we'll get a keeper next time. Talked to 3 other boats or so and everyone caught undersized ling.
