Had all intentions of avoiding the throngs in the Everett jetty area by heading to Camano Island to drop our pots & do some clam digging. About 1/2 way there, the big outboard bogged down & then the little outboard wouldn't start. So much for Camano! We were in about 60' of water off the south west side of Hat Island. Threw our 4 pots out & drifted with the outgoing tide. Pulled the first one after an hour & not a thing. Pulled the next 3 & got 4 keeper dungies. Soaked them again for an hour & had to cull the smaller legals for the bigger ones! Could barely pull them up. Wouldn't think you would do good on such a lousy tide.
We limped back to the Everett launch & joined the "circus" to wait for a spot to dock & retrieve. Looked like the Fisheries boys & gals were having a field day writing tickets. Don't know how much longer the season will stay good with so much pressure. It looked like the "great armada" out there with a bouy everywhere you looked.
