I went out yesterday with a co-worker to area 6 for the first time in search of some nice chinook salmon. We started fishing the hook around 7AM on the incoming tide. We fished kingfishers at 120 and 100 feet. We had our first hook up in twenty minutes of fishing, unfortunately it was short. We had a ton of action but all the black mouth were shorties and were released to get bigger. I would say we hooked 12 or 13 of them. Toward the top of the tide we noticed that the surface was comming alive and pinks were flying out of the water everywhere, we decided to break pull up the riggers and break out the light spinning tackle. I was using a 6'9 4-8lb rod with 6 or 8lb test and a pline pink squid jig. we must have hooked over twenty of these fish. I put 2 nice fatties in the box in hopes of catching a chinook and maybe a sockeye as the observer at the launch told me people were bringing in a few sockeye. Unfortunatley after the turn in the tide the bite pretty much shut off and it was a wrap. Great day being out on the water!
