Fished first light and it was slow. Saw a few nets out but cut plug herring and lures weren't working for us. A number of locals were fishing it hard and seemed to be coaxing some bites. We finally got a hit on a green splatter back hoochie and then later on a glow green Coyote spoon. Not a bump on the herring other than one big dogfish. Two fish in the boat and home by 11:00 for a nap. It was a beautiful morning on the canal.
