My father-in-law and I caught the first ferry from Mukilteo to try to hook our first pink salmon of the year. First we headed to Dave Mackie park in hopes of fishing around Indian point, but we found that the boat launch was inaccessable. The launch is paved, but it ends at a fairly high sand bar which effectively creates a wall between the launch and the water.
Since we couldn't launch there, we headed for Bush Point. We got the boat in the water a little after 6am and headed out to 200 feet of water. We dropped the downriggers to 30 feet and BAM we had a pink salmon double header. After that the bite stayed steady. We trolled north and south of the launch and caught fish from 30-60 ft on the downriggers. We ended the day with 6 pinks in the cooler (after losing a few that decided to hit and run.)
When we came back to the boat launch there were several people landing fish on the beach and the docks. The pinks are definately in the sound and heading towards the rivers! Tight lines and lots of luck!
