8-5 and 6, 2015
Aug, 5th was a bust for us. 2 or 3 bites and that was it. Found out everyone was out to the 250 foot area.
Aug. 6th there was a heavy penetrating mist in the morning. It soaked everything. Glenn headed out northwest to 250 feet. We lowered our gear. I put on a Wannafish A Lure F24 Mojo with I think a Hot Spot Flasher in some sort of crush? It is UV.
Glenn got a yellow rockfish he let go then he got what he swore was a big king. He had trouble getting it in. It was a king ling cod…well really a queen. It was HUGE. It was on a spoon.
I asked what depth he was fishing so I went down to 174 because I wanted a ling too. After lowering it “fish on”. It was a clipped hatchery Coho. F24 (Glenn and Cami) switched over to the F24 Mojo and we all started getting Kings, some wild others too short. We got our King quota for the day and were after Coho. Glenn hooked into a King that was bigger than any of our keepers. He let it go…
We got one other Coho and it was time to go. We ended up with a lot of other boats in the area of 250-275 feet. I think Glenn said it was 26 miles from the boat launch. The day began wet then foggy/cloudy to mostly sunny. It was an excellent outing.
The ocean was pretty calm much better than the day before. The water temperature was 58-60 degrees at the surface.
