Took my brother out to mukilteo for some crabbing and salmon fishing. The fishing today was kinda weird. There would be long periods of no action followed by longer periods of furious action and double hookups. As I was pulling out of the driveway my half awake brain told be to put my 2nd net in the boat. I'm sure glad I did. After dropping the crab pots we started trolling and it was maybe 20 minutes before my first hookup. I shout "fish on" and my brother says "me too". After a battle that involved my fish getting wrapped up in the boat motor, we both net our fish at almost exactly the same time. I grab the club to bonk mine and notice there are no spots on the tail. Turns out I had a little 20" coho! I had decided to use herring oil instead of my usual shrimp oil thinking it would give me a chance at a silver, and it paid off today. Over the next few hours we caught a couple more fish and lost a bunch. By 11am we were getting tired and hungry and were thinking about calling it quits with our 4 fish in the cooler. I had just finished saying we would troll for just a little longer when I get a fish on. Get it in the boat and get reset. 5 minutes in and my brother gets one. I turn around to see my rod bouncing and we have another double hookup. I net mine and see my brother trying to net his, so I grabbed the net and helped him get his fish in the boat. shortly after that we land our 8th fish. In a 30 minute span we went from almost giving up to leaving with our limits. Total tally was 1 silver and 7 pinks. To top it off we had 4 keeper dungeness and 1 red rock. Now it's time to light up the BBQ because there is nothing on this planet that taste better than fresh caught coho.
