Monday was a rough bite for us. We had three hits that were most likely pinks and three shakers. Boatingone of the pinks. All looked promising until the whale showed up. He cruised the area forsometime before we had enough. Pretty cool site though for sure. Hustled by the vashon shore and seen nothing, so we went to commencement bay to target pinks. And again.. seen nothing. The day started out with me discovering my secondary batteries were dead, but I rigged everything to my main battery and we were off. After all the running around and anchoringist the mouth, I must have jarred the ground loose for the motor. We got her started and decided to troll the shoreline back to point defiance. Stressful day but we were out doing it.

Was it a whale or porpoise? I know there's one annnnnoying porpoise that will cruise along boats all day long like right underneath them. Probably gets fed way too much herring from boaters is my guess. A couple weekends ago at Gig Harbor he would not leave our sight, put on a nice aerial show though, kept jumping out of the water 4 or 5 feet out, never seen a porpoise like that one before.

We were out at Gig Harbor on Monday as well and it was a whale. Surfaced about 30 yards in front of us. There were also porpoise in the area. Lots and lots of bait. Marked fish, but we didn't do well, and many of the boats we questioned did not touch a fish. We also went to the mouth of the Puy to hunt pinks, but it was dead. Weird day!
