Regarding the squidding - It was fun, easy and I cleaned them this morning - 4 gave me a small cupful of calamari to cook up. I'm right now trying to figure out a lighting system that is portable that I can haul down there so I'm not dependent on others.

10/28/2015 9:19:00 AMOh yeah - another thing. They squirt ink out when you catch them. Don't think they're empty by the time you haul them up! The little bastard in the last photo shot ink on my face and jacket right as I was getting that photo of me taken

10/28/2015 3:10:00 PMHey Jon - Last night was my 1st time so I was 'borrowing light' from those that had lamps. Where were you? I fished off pier 63 downtown, but that was only because another person in the fishing meetup posted the event and I had never been squidding. I'm closer to Edmonds but willing to go to where I can catch my limit.

10/28/2015 10:31:00 PMSeattle Pat, Edmonds pier is packed, but it seems to be doing well, a lot of people use "okies" to differentiate their lines from others. I've tried it 2x now, only had 2 total, but it was interesting,...a handful of people bring generators, I might fish for salmon close to those who are about to jig for squid, then when they start, I'm there,..but yes, having your own light source helps,..PM me, interested in getting out again,..

10/28/2015 10:44:00 PMWhat I tend to do after I hook into the squid is bring it up and let the buggers spray as much "ink" out before I bring it all the way up. That way my clothes stay somewhat the same color as when I left the house.
