Couldn't resist the temptation...flew solo today as could not get another body to challenge the predicted Gale winds. Started (8:30am) at Tide Pt/Eagle Bluff--fished through high slack until 11am (high slack at 9:45am)...Had one drive-by & two take downs/releases...one stuck & was a head-shaken/runnin SOB. I hate those kind of fighters. Sure enough, pinged it half way up. Tried one pass at Cypress Reef; then over to Lopez flats...yes, it was blowing a steady 20 but I was determined. Fished the Flats until low slack at 3 & gave it up. Wind actually died some. Checker at Washington Pk. had 4 fish (good size she said) for 6 boats. I had one solid chance all day. Green splatter back needlenose squid with a herring teaser with a green/glow hot spot flasher fished on the deck in 80-110' of water...most of the bait seemed to be in shallower today (Tide Pt). Didn't see much on bottom at the Reef or Flats.
Fishing the Friday Harbor Derby this weekend...love winter blackmouth fishing!
