Oh the weather out there was frightful, but the fishin was delightful, let it blow let it blow let it blow!! It was nasty, rough water, east wind, rain coming in sideways and 40 degrees.
Fished west end of Hat Island. Caught 3 fish in about 2 hours. First one was a keeper (pic), didnt have a scale so we called it 10lbs, second was about a 5-6lb wild so (c&r), third was about 20 inches (c&r). We used Tomic plugs and Red Racer flasher w/Cookies&cream spoon. 100-150 feet of water, 75-90 feet of cable, fishing with the incoming tide. BOOYAH!
And then some idiot (me) gets the crazy idea of going out to Elger Bay! The ride out there was rough, Elger too rough to fish, the ride back was EPIC!! Took us 2 1/2 hours to go from Elger back to the dock. Water over the front, water over the sides, water over the back and logs everywhere. We got slammed. SHEZAAM!!!
Pulling the floor out of the tin cup today to make sure nothing broken.
Welcome to winter blackmouth fishing.
