Hit the water this morning with my 11 year old fishing partner. Launched out of Edmonds and headed for Pilot Pt. Lines in the water by 8 trolling west toward Pt no Pt action was pretty slow, little rod bend on the youngsters line and she says I think I got a shaker. Reels up and sure enough she has a shaker stuck inside a seals mouth. Enough of this I say, time to make a move to DB.
Lines back in trolling into the bay and her rod bends and the line snaps free "fish on"!!!! pretty good battle going on. Fish gets about 20' from the boat when the line snaps just above her terminal gear. "Ugh" that's fishing for you. She's a sport though and tells me to get her geared back up. As I'm tying her spoon I look over and my rod doubles over "fish on" once more. After a 10 minute battle we net a beautiful 13lb "clipped" Blackmouth. High fives and a few pictures later we had gear back in the water. Rest of the morning produced nothing but shakers. All in all a great morning on the water with one of my favorite fishing buddies.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

Tight lines y'all.
