Drove out to Neah Bay on Friday for a deep water ling cod trip I specifically want to catch a trophy ling...Todd did not disappoint! We headed out a day break with 4 fisherman, a deckhand, and Todd. The water was a bit rough, but...yahoo! We passed by Cape Flattery and Tatoosh Island and sailed out till no land was in sight. We stopped in about 540' of water, rigged up, and set to fishing. The bite was on almost immediately. Todd uses electric reels, so bringing fish up from that depth helped, especially for what we were in store for. I got the first ling, which also ended up being the biggest of the day! We caught ling cod and halibut almost nonstop. Halibut season didn't open until the next day, but that was fine with me. We caught close to 50 ling cod and about 30 halibut, as well as several canaries. After we got the fish Todd wanted, we headed back in for rock fish. Todd motored right up to Skagway rocks and the adventure began! While Todd kept the boat from slamming into the rocks, we cast jigs and limited fairly quickly. Headed back in to dock with tremendous memories. Truly an epic fishing trip!
