Fished on the "Freedom" yesterday...Tough fishing with 5' W swell at 7 seconds & a pretty strong westerly breeze blowing...had to back down against the current all morning & fishing was definitely slower than it has been (from other reports I'd heard)...that said, we pounded the grounds hard & managed our 4 halibut (biggest 40) & 5 lings....we were on track for 8 lings using pipe jigs but some boat issues forced us in sooner. Also caught a huge Sablefish (Black cod)--very interesting table fare (almost like eating blubber!). Thanks Captain Steve for a great day. Looking forward to the king opener at Westport and/or the San Juans...
