Snow day so the wife and I walked down to seahurst park this morning. High tide and saw a lot of jumpers. I only fished for about 20min with a lil cleo but caught 2 cutthroat and had a run in with a heron which would not leave me alone! Glad she got a good laugh at the whole thing and managed to take some pictures at the same time. Both fished dodged the beak of death but it wasn't easy as they kept swimming back at me when I released them.

Thanks, it was a fun morning. I was using a 1/4 oz silver and gold lil cleo. I dont really venture out to much in the tackle department when I go down there. The cleo is just my go too. Cant see why a spinner wouldnt work though.

Thanks for the report. Too bad there is no fishing inside park boundaries. Looks like a good spot to intercept Pinks.

Jake Dogfish....I am confused. No fishing inside the park boundaries? Did the author not state he was at Seahurst Park?

7.30.150 There is no sign prohibiting you from fishing there.

So, is there an answer? I noticed it was talked about back in 2009 on here. I am catch and release and just looking to enjoy a day off casting and this sounded like a relaxing way to spend a few hours.

I grew up in Burien and used to go down there to fish off the beach in the sixties. We caught Staghorn Sculpins, Sand Dabs, and the occasional Cutthroat trout casting from the beach. We never used lures-- only bait. We would use a piece of bacon as bait on about a #6 bait hook, and cast and retrieved with split shot for weights. Once, we caught the first Sculpin we'd use pieces of it for bait, which worked best for the Sculpin and Sand Dabs. I think the Cutthroat were nearly always caught on bacon, usually at high tide at the mouth of that creek. A decent sized example of any of the species I mentioned provides good sport on ultra light tackle. I'm glad to see somebody enjoying a day of fishing on that beach just as I did there fifty plus years ago.

Awesome pictures! Snow, fish and a great time for sure. More like a Vulture if you ask me then a chicken. Those things can be huge.
