My friends and I decided to head out to the river before work. We went south of the city of Snohomish to where the river isn't affected by the tide surge. We got there around 6:15A and walked down to the shore. The river is high because of all of the rain we've had, so we couldn't fish from the regular spots since they were all underwater. We headed to a place that is normally above water and there was a nice big pool where all the fish were jumping.

I started throwing a chartreuse spinner because the water was kind of dirty. I still don't know the correct way to rig it, so I didn't get anything. I switched to a 50/50 Dick Nite and about 20 minutes later landed a hooknose humpy. Let him loose to continue spawning. It started to rain around 8A, so we packed up and headed out.

There were a couple of boats plus a couple of other guys on the shore. Not too crowded, but a few more and it would have been. Still looking for the Silvers, but I don't think I'll get them without more time on the river.

Hey Mikey sorry to hear you didn't get any Silvers! But keep at it I put many hours in to get the fish I have gotten. If you keep going you for sure will get one! Were you using a Blue Fox? If so the way I rig it and I don't know if it is the correct way but it works is I tie a snap swivel to my main line and then I put a #2 split shot right above the snap swivel. I use the weight just to give me a little more casting distance. If I use a spoon I will rig it the same way. You should try going where the tide affects the water level and fish when the tides are changing. I seem to have had the best luck when the tide is going out in the evening! Tight Lines!

Thanks for the tips. I was using a Blue Fox, rigged somewhat the same way. Where we were at, there wasn't much current, so to get any action off of the spinner, I would have to reel it in pretty fast. The #0 DN seemed to work the best for the flow. At least, that's what it seemed like to me.

you replace the treble with a single hook, or at least thats what i do

Yep, that's what you do. I also add a split ring so I don't have to cut the hook off to put if I want to put the treble hook back on (that's assuming I don't lose my gear).

ahhh..ok thats what i thought. Did the blue fox work? I've been fishing under 522 bridge with success with the humpy's but so much with the silvers? Anyone know any tips?
