Down by the river once again. I started about 11:00am hoping it had warmed up a bit. I got a 17 incher first off for dinner. Then I switched my corky and yarn to white with red yarn along with a small amount of eggs I cured. I hooked into a 27 inch 9 lb silver that only had a little bit of a hooked nose. It rolled, rolled, and rolled running down river. I thought I had hooked it in the back or something like with the pinks. This was the closest I have had to stripping the line from my reel. So I went down river after it. It started hugging the shore by the time I got to it downstream. When it calmed down I tried easing it on the bank by backing up. Then the line broke at the swivel but the silver didn’t know it was free, laying there half on land and half in the water. I figured I would go a little upstream, get in the water, come up behind it, and grab its tail and at the back of the neck at the gills and RUN up the bank. That is what I did and it came home and may well be Thanksgiving dinner, as well it should be. I was thanking Jesus the whole time I was reeling it in and carrying it home.
I changed my strategy because of the clear water and went smaller. Size 4 hook-smallest corky and quarter to nickel size egg cluster.
Psa 118:24 This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
