try up higher in the system, they have been running fopr a while not so they might be concetrated higher in the river, try above lewisville park or even higher like moulton falls, just be sure you read the regs, some parks like lewisville you must be a certain distance away form it before you can fish. was the water murky? i heard it was flowing high and the water was brown?

well the water is running pretty high but it wasn't terribly murky. alot of the holes a person would usually fish are all blown out though, so it makes it hard to find a spot that looks good. but i think i might try lucia falls and see whats happening their. ive also heard the north fork was doing alright at the hatchery

By fishing up higher in the system you are also going to find cleaner water. Look upriver for them. High/dirty water= fish up high in the system...And vice versa....low/clear=fish low in the system...

well i would try a veriety of things, but first i would try a large spinner like a bluefox, and retreive it over some large rocks. then if that did not work i would try a large casting spoon such as a little cleo, or something like that, and so the same thing as the spinner. third (which might work the best but is kinda hard, and you have to re-bait often) i would try and drift some sand shrimp or some egg clusters and try and attract a bite. if none of this works.....well then you could try dynamite...but that is highely illegal, and i do not reccomend trying that last one because you might come out of it with half a steely but you might loose some fingers.....

the water is now low and clear. steelhead are shy and will not hold in low waters. try to find some deep pools forget about bath tub holes. bath tub holes are great when the water is high and fish are moving up stream. steelhead are very territorial by nature and will more likely to bite out of anger than hunger so i would use something like a spinner. my favorite spinner is the number 5 blue fox silver color. just cast upstream and let it swing down stream. sometime you get snagged so it is quite expensive, but you can make your own by purchasing components bulk on the internet. my home made ones are made from a silver colorado blade with a deep cut size 4. it attaches to a split ring and two swivels. the bottom swivel attaches to a split ring and a single 4/0 steelhead hook. fish this spinner with a float and lead sinker, three feet leader. fish it just like drift fishing.
