This report is actually for the Yakima river, but whatever reason the river is not listed under kittitas county (sp?) As far as i know the area called Yakima river canyon is in that county.
All being said,, i went out on my first ever float trip with a friend this past weekend. We floated from I think what was called the Umtanum bridge down to Big Pines campground, about 6 hours actually. It was a beautiful day, maybe could have used a few more clouds for cover, but nice. The fish were VERY small. Considering we were using some flys that were the size of my little finger's nail. (not up on hook sizes) Caught fish on various dry flies, nymphs, something under a popper. Almost anything. Caught maybe 10 fish, the biggest being around 8" Whooo Hooo! Funny thing was I caught a 3" fish during my backcast.... apparently for only a split second my fly touched on the river behind me. When i cast forward i threw a fish, kind of weird. Fished from 11:00- 6:00 ish, waded the next day near that Umtanum bridge, caught a couple of dinks. Water level is low, about 2000 cfs.
