Woke up early this morning because I got a call that my grandpa had passed away. Wasn't quite sure what to do with myself, so I decided to go fishing as that's something I learned to love from gramps and though it was something he'd like for me to do. Headed out to the Sky which I haven't fished for about 3 weeks. Water level is up from when I saw it last. Arrived at 7:15am as the sun was rising and there was a heavy fog on the river. Only 1 other guy on the banks, and one drift boat on down the river a ways.

I saw a few fish rolling and jumping, but didn't get any bites. The ones I saw were darker in color so maybe they don't have much of an appetite? Didn't see any chromers. The most excitement I had was that I saw a nice bright trout that was hooked and stuck on a line that was attached to a rock under the water. I threw on a vibrax spinner to see if I could snag his line possibly. I ended up getting it, but when I pulled it in it was the side that he wasn't attached to, so I yanked it and got it broke off from the rock. Think he got free after that as I didn't see him thrashing around anymore in my area. Funny that I didn't end up catching any fish today, but rather freeing one. Other than that, most of the time I was using a orange/green corkies with hot pink yard, and I also tried a buzz bomb but with no luck. It was nice to just get out though and see the sun rise through the fog and the trees, hoping my gramps was making his way.

yes. not exactly sure what he was snagged on but he had a bit of roaming room. i'd see him come thrashing by one way...then the other....then i wouldn't see him for a while. then i'd see him jumping somewhere else. i would see him consistently though until i broke the line.

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa. Sounds like a fitting way to pay homage.
