Went to the Snake down by the falls hoping to catch some channel cats below the palouse falls. It was some what packed, so we went down to the tucannon access about four miles past Lyon's Ferry Resort. Access is right by the mouth. No one anyone near this area. On the first cast I hit into a small mouth using a rainbow floating rapala. About 2 lbs. Then nothing so we threw out some chicken liver, where we got some bites but nothing else. Changed back to my rapala and caught into what most likely would have been the state record small mouth. Atleast 6-7 lbs, but broke off when he shot under a log along the shore line. I have never seen a fish make a wake like this one did when it went for the lure and when fighting. The whole river waked. Caught about 10 more small mouths before we left, all being in the 1-2 lb range. Just take a rapala down there and fish along the shore using a rip and spin technique, but watch out for the banks. Its steep enbankments and lots of roots and logs scattering the shoreline under the deep water.
