Wife and me went down to the Puyallup River at 116th Hole. I recently aquired my Dad's old Steelhead/Salmon rod, so I thought I'd give it a try. Already had my Dad's Rig up that he used MANY times before in oregon(where I am from) to catch fish, minus the bait, which apperently people in washington don't have, which disappointed me alot. So, I picked up some salmon row to try my luck with that.

Didn't get any bites, had 1 good jerk, but may have been a log or something.

My wife was just fishing for whatever, and managed to catch 2 tiny fish. A tiny sucker, and a tiny rockfish/mud dobber thing.

Going to figure out when the salmon/steelhead runs are. Hopefully some people will catch some this year(including me).

The Puyallup opens the 16th of August for Salmon. It's going to be a good year.

Thanks for the info Big Smooth. Where do you think the hotspots on the river are going to be this year?

Where do you think the hotspots on the river are going to be this year? Where you can find a spot to stand. It will be very busy...not like today.

Toni is so right, shoulder to shoulder. Try spots along the lower river. Anywhere off of River road.

Hotspots? right where he was is always good...or walk downstream and fish the tailout. Watch out for the cranky landowner..he'll come out and give you an earfull!

haha, yeah. I didn't see him down there. But I did go down to the tailout. :)
