got off work around 6:30 decided to run to langus park and maybe try to hook into a pink or a steelhead. i threw a pink size 4 bluefox and my little brother threw a pink wee wiggler. didn't catch any keepers but saw a nice fish roll. im not sure what it was. then as we left we saw an otter pretty cool.

anyone know how long before we start catching pinks in the snohomish or close to it?

ya they are not even in the sound yet, you got alteast another month before you see any pinks in the rivers. I was at the local fly shop today and the owner is a guide in sequim, and i guess vancouver island in canada just slayed a ton of pinks the other day, so they should be here soon.........

sturgeongenerall, yeah i i know i am all over the regs. i want to be a game warden in a couple years so i am not going to screw up. i work by the marina and i've talked to some fisherman and they say that there are lots of pinks on the dept finder so its just a matter of time before they come in. and i've seen some fish roll in the river that were around 18-30 inches so probably not 'nooks and to early for silvers maybe steelies or pinks. thanks for giving me an estimate. what are my chances of catching a pink for my little brother before august 15 (his b-day and opening day for salmon)? and whats the best thing to use for pinks, pink buzz bombs?

i'm just fishing the snohomish for the summer while i am up here so i don't know much about it.

My secret is really no secret. Find a spot thats in or near what looks like a group of fish and thow something relatively small and pink at them.

DylanE, the Snohomish is not open for pinks right now period. If you plan to be a game warden you have to learn about fisherman targeting fish out of season. The fish will start showing up about the the time it opens (amazingly enough). Thanks for the report!

jake dogfish i know the season ain't open but its not against the law to catch and release. and a game warden won't give a ticket for that haha trust me i've fished with and talked to wardens all the time. and i know we need a little rain which we probably wont get for another couple weeks but as soon as it rains they should start slowly trickeling up the rivers. man im getting excited for them to come in. any day now

There are pinks in the river. Last weekend I found a school of them, up above the town of Snohomish.
It does not matter if it rains or not, these fish have their own timetable.
