Fished my usual spots on the upper Quinault today. Havent been in 2 years. Havent caught a Steely in 4 years. Asked a local I saw casting in too why there werent Steelys no matter what week I come... She answered that about 4 years ago the natives stopped letting any fish at all into the lake... that they net end to end above their hatchery. Can this be legal? It is completely decimating the native population and no natives are making it above the lake to spawn. I have great memories of catching Steelys all the way up to 24 pounds since Ive been 12 years old making the hike up there. If anyone can confirm this is what the natives are doing or can at least assert whether or not its even plausible or legal for this to be occuring? Thanks much and tight lines to all.... something more than the little dinks I caught today
