Read reports all the time and now finally decided to post. So headed down to the Snohomish 5am on opening day. Got near Lowell and couldn't find a spot to fish.....Had knee surgery 6 weeks ago so needed some flat access. Proceeded to head to the Eddy, and wow was it packed. Headed on under 522 bridge on Monroe side, again packed....then headed back up to Lowell and found a spot right by the boat launch as the tide was out. This was about 10am when I finally got my line wet, and what a good time to pick. Group next to me had 2 on the line when I got there and 2 on a stringer. Tried plunking with sand shrimp and nothing. Then moved to a spoon and lost some hardware, then switched to a rubber/pink/sparkly squid like jig and 2nd cast and about a 5lber. Lost another one about 5 minutes later and then tide started coming in so went home for the day. Daughter was upset that I went without her so took her the wife and her twin brother to Picnic Point to try the salt. Saw a couple jump around 3pm but left with nothing. What a great day to be out......I do have to say that people out were very nice and just having fun. Going out tonight to try my luck again...........don't think they are in the river in big numbers yet. Might try Skagit next weekend.......
