I fished with Kinghunter this morning with TommyTitan showing up a little bit later. This is my 5th time trying to get a Salmon/Steelhead for 2009. Honestly, I have been pretty frustrated. Tommy sent me a text last night of 2 Pinks, I thought today was finally going to be the day. We found an isolated spot along the river and as soon as daylight came, Kinghunter and I went at it. I was using pink on pink with 6 ft of leader using 12lb main with 10lb leader. The fish were rolling sporadically and on my 10th cast of getting the flow of the river and watching my line and feeling the weight bounce along the bottom, I noticed something different about the drift so I set the hook. WHAT THE?? FISH ON! A short battle- a couple runs, I proudly got the fish in. The bite was pretty hot the entire morning and we all took turns having the hot drift and hot stick. At one point Tommy had a hook up 5 casts in a row. Then it was Kinghunter, then myself. I did however land the most fish, but without a net, we did lose plenty more. All three of us most likely had a big King or a big Silver on, but we never saw the fish, the bend in our rods and our reels singing, we knew these weren't pinks. I still can't wipe the smile off my face from today. If you are new to fishing for salmon in rivers, I highly recommend fishing here. I caught my limit and so will you.

jens, that is sweet! I know the smile you're talking about. My brother-in-law and I couldn't stop talking about our trip yesterday. Unfortunately he wasn't as lucky as I was, but we were both newbies to the game and it could have just been the slight differences in our setups. I'd say by end-of-day I'd probably hooked into more fish than most of the people on the beach (just couldn't land them!). Sounds like you had an even better time. Nothing like having that fish on the end of your line. I've never done this type of river fishing either, so it'd be awesome to go with someone who knows what they're doing. One of these days we'll have to meet up..... Bass, Salmon, Steelhead....whatever is biting! Nice report.

Hey, just let the man dream that it was a big king or coho. I personally think it was a 6 inch needle fish. LOL

Quote from salmonlayer93: "how do u no it was a big king or big silver, for all u no it could of been a foul hooked pink."
Dude. Really? First of all, it took me 20 minutes to even understand your response. Secondly, I landed 1 foul hooked Pink. Kinghunter landed a foul hooked pink. What we had on weren't Pinks. Are you saying there aren't any Kings or Silvers in the system now?? I beg to differ. Anyways....

Rob G and Bentrod, we are planning to run it back this weekend. PM me or Kinghunter/TommyTitan and let's get some pigs!!

Good job. I tried the mouth of the Puyallup and was a little late on the bite on Sunday. Saturday though, sent my cousin home with my limit. I'm going to hit the Puyallup tonight. maybe the last good night of the week since I seen the nets going in yesterday.. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the invite Jens. I'll have to be fishing in my dreams though as I'll be out of town for the weekend at my niece's b-day party. I'm taking my fishing gear though, just in case I get a chance to find some water somewhere. Good luck and hope you land one of those kings. Tight lines.
