I fished solo and found an opening upriver under the bridge. I was using a small black corky with black and red yarn with 6 feet of leader and 3/8 oz bass casting sinker. Fish were rolling up and down where I was fishing so my excitement was pretty high with my first cast. After about 10 minutes, I felt that familiar bounce/bounce/bounce of my sinker and then a pause. Hook set, FISH ON! I could tell by the way it was fighting, it wasn't hooked in the mouth. I got a glimpse of a smaller silver with my set up buried in its side. A little fight to this fella and out came my hook. Oh well, but it was pretty cool, first hook up at the Nisqually for me. I was even pulling out my camera lol- I ventured a little bit more up river and found a quiet hole. Another guy fished next to me and I picked his brain a little while we fished. He said the fishing downriver has been spotty, but with the nets in, kinda tough, but the spot I found is his honey hole. I didn't have exactly what he had tied on, but I will make sure and get what he was using by weeks end that's for sure.
Fishing the Puyallup the past couple weeks sure was a change up fishing here, I have to have my game face on if I am going to get that King that is eluding me.
