I got there around 10AM and just 3 silvers had been caught. For the next few hours, I saw 2 other silvers get landed in addition to mine. On the way out around 2PM, chatted up w/ 2 people who caught 1 silver each.
The water was very fast. The pinks were still biting on just about anything, especially near the honeyhole. I used Dick Nite spoons initially as I usually do, but after losing 2 fairly quickly due to snags, I decided to switch up to corkie (yellow/green) and pink yarn on a size 4/0 hook. And instead of a slinky, I used a 3/4 oz ball weight. Funny thing was that I started getting bites right away w/ the new setup, but I thought it was just the weight hitting the bottom, so I didn't pull back hard to set the hook until divine intervention (the sun came out) gave me a clue. After that, as soon as I felt a bite, I yanked the rod back, and after just a couple of times, I hooked that silver! It jumped up, and I said out loud, "Damn, wish that was my fish" cuz I figured that I had just another humpie. Then I realized, "Oh s***, that *is* my fish!" :-) I took my sweet time bringing it in. It fought hard 6-7 times. Once I landed him, I saw that there was another 4/0 hook w/ broken line in his mouth, so this guy is definitely a strong fighter! What a day! And what a fish! :-)
