I got to the river somewhere close to 3pm and left at 5pm. There were 3 other people fishing and they left by 3:30pm leaving me with it all to myself. The river was in very good shape. The clarity may have been up to a foot, around 1500cfs - 47.5 feet and dropping. I didn’t catch any salmon and didn’t see any. On my third cast I hooked into a fish. It didn’t fight too much. Could it be some old boot? No, it was so silvery and beautiful. It had this rosy blush down its cheeks and side. It had a white mouth so I figured it wasn’t a jack silver it must be a trout. Under 20inches so it wasn’t a steelhead.
It was 14-16 inches long. I thought that trout fishing was over the 31st of Oct. but I read, when I got home, that it goes until Feb. I did catch a smaller trout last Thanksgiving in about the same place. Maybe next Nov I will catch it again and it will be 18inches.
