I met up with Jerry at daybreak, there were only 5 of us on the river a little after 6:15am when I approached the drift...It was cold out today, the action was even colder. I really had to work at my first fish, trying different colors, weights, scents. It wasn't until about 8:30a when I finally hooked into a Silver and it was big. I battled the pig for about 5 minutes and then felt slack. ACK! I spent another hour messing around with different set ups and then finally, "Fish on!" 15 minutes later, I landed a nasty old beat up King roughly about 25-30 pounds. I didn't dare touch the thing, pulled out the pliers and off it went. "Please find a mate", I whispered to it when it swam away..
I seen maybe 2 silvers all day, not as many Kings either. I had 4 on total. A guy drifting bobber and jig by the boat launch landed a gorgeous Steelhead that he released..Everyone I talked to said the run of Silvers isn' t done here, but sure looked like it to me.
