I didn't catch any fish, but pretty happy cuz i got a new pole. I have always fly fished and have always wanted to catch a steelhead on my fly pole, the only problem is fly fishing expensive. I have been looking for a spey rod or two haned pole that i could afford for about 5 years now and i finally got one. It is a 14ft 9wt. It is a liitle heavier than i like but that price was right.

I started on the Puy. just below where the Carbon dumps in and fished the tailout adjusting to the new pole. I saw one chum role, but no bites. Two other guys were there but nothing for them. Then, I went down to the bike track, but no fish there.

At about noon i headed up to the Carbon and walked up almost to the hatchery, i only saw two chum on one side channel. There was a guy walking out with a silver about 5lbs. that was just starting to turn. Farther down i saw a guy hook a fish but he broke it off due to horsing it, he wasn't very happy.

I fished all the way down to Rivers Edge, the river was still a little high any mostly fast water or small seams, but i can't really fish far out seams fish a fly pole. I did see a guy walk out with a chum but i didn't say anything to him.

It was still a dream day having a new pole, maybe next time i can hook a fish or get winter steel this year. If any body is interested you can go on youtube and type in spey cast to see how guys cast those type of poles

Good luck!
