I know this report is late, I've been busy lately. My uncle and I hit up the Barrier on Sunday, and to our surprise silvers were rollin EVERYWHERE! The water was pretty high so we fished the hole up near the spillway, and silvers were rolling literally every 20 seconds or so, sometimes only 2 ft in front of us. We had no luck at first, and after about an hour two other guys showed up and started drifting jigs below a bobber. 3rd cast for this guy and BAM! He hooks into a gorgeous steelie. I helped him net it (and took a little swim in the process thanks to an unseen rock.....) and man it was a nice fish! It was easily 15 lbs and it had just a hint of red. Over the next few hours I hooked up twice, but couldn't seem to seal the deal. Another guy managed to land 2 bright silvers, but they were both foul hooked and went back in. All in all not a bad day, but VERY cold! My rod guides would freeze up every 15-20 casts and if I spent much time out of the water my wader boots froze solid. If you don't mind the cold it might be worth the trip.... Pink seemed to be the ticket - pink jigs or pink corkies with black yarn.
