Got to the Snoqualmie around 11am and fished behind my friends house in the Fall City area. A few drift boats were out. There was a nice little fishing hole that a friend of a friend told us about, where he caught two steelies a little while ago. The weather was perfect today. Unfortunately we landed no fish but got two bites after about 4 hours. I have yet to catch my first steelhead, but being that this is my first year fishing them I'm not to discouraged. I need to find some friends on this site who know a thing or two and can teach me. I'm pretty sure my setup was right but I just cant seem to get this elusive fish. Oh well. Hopefully this weather keeps up and the river goes down a bit. Maybe then will I get my first Steelie.

Nice report. Yup, they're elusive alright! I've never landed one either (YET!). This is the first year I've really tried for 'em since I was a young buck fishing with my grandpa though so I can't say much. The only thing I can say is be patient and try everything (plunking, drifting, bobber and jig, spinners, spoons, etc.). From my experience I'd say just dial in what works best for the particular hole you're fishing and stick with it. Hopefully we can both get that steely monkey off our backs sometime soon! Good luck out there and tight lines!

Thanks. I'm not giving up yet. I just need to find a river that I can familiarize myself with. Can't really do that until the river level goes down, but that should be soon. Good luck to you too

You should try the cable hole by the Tokal Creek hatchery. It's some slower water that is good for a bobbed and jig. There is usually a few people there so you gotta try to get there early. There is a good hole where the raging river dumps in to the Snoqualmie. They release 25,000 winter smoltz right there. You could always fish in Tokal Creek but that is kinda cheating if you ask me. Just keep getting out there and you'll get one. I got skunked for three weekends in a row before I got my first.

Stick with it ...I caught my first steelhead after several seasons of trying. The snoqualmie is the river i learned on and it can be a very good river to fish .Don t overlook a walk up under the falls this time of year especially after all this high water.Tight lines...

Yea, drove past Tokul Creek and it looked like some major combat fishing. I think I will pass. But I will have to check out the Falls
