Took off early from work to try my luck at a spot I’ve been keeping an eye on. There’s only room for one or two anglers so when I saw 3 rigs parked there, I kept driving. Went to another place next to the road and clamored the near vertical path down to gravel bar ten feet below.
On the second cast I hook a beautiful, fat- 15” Rainbow. But with an 8‘-3” Fenwick and 10lb test, I may as well been using a bamboo pole and string. I’m seriously considering switching to ultra light gear for the Pilchuck.
Even though this trip was short (½ hour) It was awesome taking a little time to fish on the way home. Now if I can only remember to bring the camera…
