Went out on my home river the Tolt. 1st time singlely targeting Winter Steelhead, with the classic jig under drift float. Myself and a friend hit the river at the crack of 1st light and fished until about 9:30 am. Around 8:30 i picked up a beautiful Tolt River steelie, 7#'s and 26inches to be exact. This river is nice if you don't like combat fishing. Alot less fish but being out in the wilderness is what its all about right? This river has always produced nice for me as far as Rainbow, Steelies, and especially Sea Run Cutts. This river is not for everyone, but if you put time into figuring out its secrets you can be rewarded with some nice fish. I recomend this river to those willing to spend some time treking through the river crossing and recrossing to avoid trepassing, and to those who enjoy prestine waters. This river is a very clean river in its upper areas so please keep it that way.
The second picture is a fish my buddy caught 3 days later. It is a 30 inch, appr. 10#'s bull Steelie form the tolt. keep in mind it took alot of patience to be rewarded with these beauties. Its not anything like the fisheris of the Skykomish, and Snoqualmie rivers. Tolt only produces a small number of returning fish.
