Hit up the area above blue creek and came home with Two Stealheads. My first of 2010 and first using bobber and jig. Used the nightmare jig. Caught a 9.1# and a 6.5#. Also caught 4 12"'ers :). had a great time fishing alongside Fellow WLers. Weather was calm once light hit. Tried glow balling with only one take before dawn.

Yeah that does suck for me, getting a ticket for casting past the boundary no fishing line. I didn't even know such a line exist. I've seen many people cast there before and catch those big springers and I was casting there today with my copper rvhrfshr spinner and the GW yelled at me for casting past the boundary line 3x. They should post signs down by the river so we can all see it and apparently there is a sign on a tree across from the river. I admit I didn't read all the rules and regulations but they should at least post signs down by the river and maybe install rope with buoy to mark the no fishing line. I was not happy about it, but I'm wondering if I can have my fine reduce if I show up for court? Has anyone ever gone to court for this? The GW was slightly irritated with me but after he checked my fishing license and driver's license he seemed to calm down, I think he should of gave me a warning since it was my first ever violation and I really didn't know about the imaginary boundary line. Oh well, thanks Jens for telling the whole world, did you get a cheap laugh out of it? You even said you didn't know about the boundary line. What a bud!!!!

Had a great 09-10 season up north, been skunked on 5 occations on the Cowlitz, would truly appreciate any meaningful advice from y'all since you seem pretty darn knowledgeable about this river from the posts I've read. Headin down there early this next week to give her another crack ... River been running good? looks like its been heating up quick (those are perdy piggies there BS!!!) No boat....... would really love some bank tips.... have never tried glo-ballin .. hook a brother up :)

haha! Sorry to hear that KH, I've always wondered where that line is? Maybe you can show me next time :) Thanks all it was a quick day for me unlike most of my trips down south. Gotta give the props to jens though. If not for him hooking the first fish on a nightmare jig I would still be there trying what I thought would work! That was a nice springer he tried to fool you with pooh. The old guy who caught it chased it for a good 20 minutes to half hour, hooked it up on some rocks... went out and unhooked her and then sat in the middle of the rapids screaming "YEAH!!!!" As for glo-balling I would suggest a bright headlamp like Jens has. You need somthing that is going to bleach the other side of the river white. I have a ballcap light, but it only provides enough light for a few casts.

Yeah it funny until it happens to you. I knew I shouldn't told Jens with his big mouth. But its all good. Lesson learned. I'm going to try to get out tomorrow at the same spot and see if I can figure out the float and jig feel. I told Jens I was about to get rid of my 10ft rod and baitcaster reel. I thought I had it all figured out and then next thing you know I was getting birds nest constantly, I don't know what happened. I dont' think I was doing anything different from earlier. It was odd and very frustrating. Its kind of the same feeling as practicing at the driving range and your hitting the ball PURE and then out on the course you barely break 100, what gives? But Jens said not to sell it and I just need more practice, coincidentally Jens mentioned he was having the same problem with his baitcaster. Sounds like we all need a lesson from flingingpooh. What do you charge by the hour pooh?

Yeah man, don't get rid of it... tough it out and you will be happy with your corky and yarn fishing. I have issues casting a bobber with a baitcaster so I will jsut use a standard reel....no backlash there :) Once you figure out the brakes and everything you'll always want to use it. Much easier on the back with the ease you will able to cast at, not to mention the distance you will get.

Bravo bigsmooth, way to hit it and break in the year! Those are some nice slabs!!! Wishin' I could've joined you guys down there. Been so damn busy lately I've barely got room to breathe! Still gotta get that new license! Nice to see one of the guys (other than jens-lol) catchin' something down there. I'll be back out there soon! Good luck and keep those lines crankin'!!!
