The Inland Empire Bass Club hosted it's 3rd tournament this year over May 22nd&23rd. 54 entrants total with 279 fish caught for a weight of 521.92lbs total. Water temps the previous week were 71F and then plummetted for this weekend to around 56-57F with rain and a bit of hail at one point.
Big largemouth for the tourny went to Art Acuff at 5.89lbs and big Smallmouth went to Jennifer Forster with 4.64lbs.
For anyone interested, our next general meeting is at Conrath's Spokane Valley Marine this Tuesday (5/25) at 7pm. Meetings last about 2 hours with a small break in the middle. If they can help me to learn to fish then I'm pretty sure anyone can be taught :) See ya there.

Ryan,
The colder weather must have really taken it's toll on the fish size, with the average fish being under 2lbs. That's surprizing for the POR. My brother and I were up there on Friday the 21st and had a real good day on LMB averaging well over 2lbs per fish. We didn't do as well witht eh pike we were after. We got a few but I think the weather had the pike turned off as well. we were expecting some pretty good numbers for them but it didn't quite turn out like we expected. I have never seen a crappie taken from the POR. where did you find them and was there any size to them? Did you happen to run in to the rude fishermen that we experienced? Maybe the guy in the red and silver champion that ran his big motor between my boat and the bank in Davis creek when I was only about 20 feet off shore? Or maybe the not so smart fellow in the cowboy hat that ran his 105 HP tiller motor between us and the shore when we were at the same 20 foot distance, and proceeded right up the middle of campbell slough with that same big motor? If there is a fishing etiquette school out there, these two jokers must have flunked out of it. Nice pics and Happy Fishing

Hi AJ's day, Talked to about 4 non-tournament boats and all were nice and all seemed to not mind a bit that we were having a tournament. It has been discussed several times at our club meetings that our behavior definitely reflects on all of our group so we pride ourselves on behaving the best we can at all times. Sorry to hear you had some unpleasantries with some other anglers, it happens to the best of us :) As far as the fishing, glad to hear you did well. The top guys in the club pulled in bags of 17+lbs each day so they definitely knew where and how to get them. It's definitely a different scene in a tournament versus a day on the lake as I've found. Prefishing the previous weekend with Bobby Forster, I saw him pull out about 20 fish in the 3lb range with ease so the guys that are good can produce. The rest of us just enjoy the weekend :)

Crappie was caught in Campbell slough on a senko. Very specific technique was used too. Have a big snarl of braid come off your spinning rod and spend 3 minutes untangling it. When you reel up the slack, talk to your girlfriend about line conditioner and then set the hook. That's how I got that one.
