My wife Amy and I normally fish Lake Mayfield on our day off. But we wanted to do a little exploring this week. We packed up the canoe, a couple of sandwiches and a few worms and headed to Swofford Pond.
We fished from about 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM and had a very good time.
The trout were in shallow water. We limited out using garlic marshmallows under a slip bobber before 2:00 PM. All of the Rainbows we took we in less than 3 feet of water and no more than 10 feet from shore.
Then we headed for some deeper water looking for large mouth bass with no luck.
We started back for shore and picked up a few small large mouth bass in the 1 - 2 pound size using worms with an eggs sinker rig.
The weather was nice and the smaller fish were fun to catch.
