Sorry this report is late, i came home from camping to find my house robbed, and spent a couple days cleaning up and in shock. Anyway went camping at Packwood and hit Skate creek on Friday afternoon. They had stocked the creek on thursday so there was plenty of fish to go around. They were hitting on anything that you threw at them. We used rooster tails, spoons, a panther matin lure, worms, & power eggs. Just let it drift for a few then reel it in slowly and watch all the fish chase it. The creek is really clear and you can see the fish just holding up in the deeper pools. One of my girlfriends had a fish hit before I could even get my pole set up. It was about 11 inches and fought like a salmon. We had decided to c&r all we caught since none of us felt like cleaning fish. The girl in the pic caught her first trout but this one didnt make it so we did keep one. We all caught numerous fish between 10-14 inches. As you can see from the other pic that people had been catching alot of fish. To bad they left the guts right on the edge of the bank cause it really smelled down there. There was only 2 other people fishing when we got there so there was plenty of room for all. Had a blast, wish i was still there. This is a beautiful place to go and fish and relax.

Thanks for the report kcc, very sorry to hear about your house. Sheez, it's getting so you almost don't want to go away on vacation these days! Hopefully nothing irreplaceable stolen. Looks like you had a great time fishing Skate. I've never fished it but I've been by there. Guess I'll break out the fly rod and see if I can't coax a few on flies there soon.

wtf i went there the 21 and didnt c anything? we found some really nice pools but saw no fish what so ever. i actually spent 2 hrs looking for them.What pool did u fish at? i normally go to the 3rd bridge?

i've been there before and couldnt catch anything either. They stocked it on the the 15th and the guy at the little bait shop in town says they stock just about ever other week. As you can see from the one pic, people were catching alot of fish so maybe they were caught or spread out in the system. THere was on guy there fly fishing on top, but i never saw if he caught anything, he didnt stay long. We were under the 1st bridge coming from Packwood.

ya i went and looked there and saw nothing but fish heads that have been there for weeks. what was the date u went? i just dont understand y i couldn't c anything there i was there a week after they dumped them

Hi KCC, I own a vacation rental home in Packwood, so am up there frequently. Have only been "skunked" a cple of times on the skate. I fish from the first bridge out of Packwood. Quickest time to limit out was approx. 30 minutes. I cheated though. They were stocking the Skate when I was there LOL. Couldn't keep them off the line. Happy Fishing. Cease1955
