Started late, but that was ok, cause it meant I could actually launch the boat at Cady without much hassle, and the tide was still coming in. Got on the water and immediately started pulling plugs up river from the launch, worked our way up trolling wiggle warts. Told my cousin to reel in so we could make the run up to Baileys and he had a little 10-12" cut. Kept it over the side and used pliers for a safe release, then made our way up. Worked some plugs for a bit at Baileys then anchored and tried casting plugs, casting spoons, dick nites, and drifting corkies and yarn. No luck. Saw a good ammount of rollers, some Chinook and some coho. Talked to guys as they motored past, and the story seemed pretty similar from all of them (though I think we were seeing more rollers than others) Got tired of sitting, so we picked up anchor and ran back down river. Pulled plugs through a few holes, both up and down stream and trolled up, cut the engine and drifted back down casting stuff. Caught a few more little trout. At around 6:30 decided to head down to the ramp and pull plugs just up river from the train trestle. Pulled a fire tiger and chrome with chartreuse down the side with the pilings, and WHAM! Fish on! After a quick but fun fight, got it too the boat, and it was clearly not the Coho we were after, but a trout. A pretty good trout too. (caught on the chrome plug, though it was the closest to the wood, the first trout this morning was on the fire tiger)

17.5" searun cut came home with us, and we just had it for dinner. NUM!
The F&W boys were launching in the dark as we were taking out. I asked them were all the fish were, and they reported, "Some chinook, LOTS of coho, a few pinks, and .... SEA LIONS" Supposedly there is now a lion in the snoho taking fish out of their traps, and I even heard one story of a guy getting his fish stolen on the snoho this year by a lion. Guess the seal issue is moving north. Great...

Still, had a nice day on the water, the weather was perfect! Just nice and overcast, not too hot, and the water was pretty nice too. Can't wait to get out again next week. Good luck and tight lines!
