arrived at wallace river by the SR2 bridge today around 12:30 PM.Fished until 6:30 never had a strike .But i did see some curious stuff there in the afternoon,I first saw about a 12 lb. king with his upper jaw and face cut off leaving all the rest of the fish intact,i have a picture and will try to download it for you too see.I also observed 2 good ol' boys act like they were drift fishing ,BUT they were really snagging and the bitch of it all is that they got a fairly large hen.Oh well u can't win em all,but you can at least try.

It's a shame to see it, I've seen that first hand on the wallace. They get really spooked under that bridge, the best bet is to fish the other holes and wait for one that isn't.

Maybe some one was looking for a tag in that fish.

I believe that the fish was found dead and tag removed(that is how they get tags from fish, cut that section out and send it to the lab) When fishing out of neah bay, we would come in from fishing and the fish checker would check all the salmon with a electical device. If the device beeped they cut that same part out of the salmon(left our fish looking just like the one in your picture). The cool thing was, they got my address and a couple months later I received info on the fish. It told what hatchery they are released from and when. You also get entered into some drawing...I never won that.

that was an adipose clipped fish, indicating that there was a coded wire tag in the snout. another fine hatchery fish

It is part of a Spawning Ground Survey program, probably by DFW. Removing the CWT, otolith, and scales.
