Got up to Gobar creek (trib to the Kalama) about 9am. Temp only 22 degrees. Gobar was still a bit wild with pretty good runnoff. Very few accessable pools. This creek doesn't follow a riffle/pool pattern but drops elevation pretty quick and doesn't offer much slack water for a winter trout to hole up in. Didn't get a bite on my red/silver kastmaster all morning. But what a beautiful morning to be out on a really beautiful creek. After I left there I went upstream along the Kalama to check out trout opportunities on the upper river, but Weyerhaeuser had the gate locked! I guess a person has to catch the upper Kalama during hunting season when Weyco is letting people in.
